ZeroAnomaly, LLC (“ZeroAnomaly”, “we”) makes security software for home and small-business networks. This policy explains what we collect through our website, our dashboard, the ZeroAnomaly software on your router, and the emails and texts we send you, and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Account information. Your email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider, Amazon Cognito, and never reach our servers.
- Phone number and preferences. If you add a mobile number for alert texts: the number, whether you’ve confirmed it, and your email and text alert settings.
- Network information from your router. The ZeroAnomaly software analyzes traffic on your router and reports its results to us. For each device on your network, that includes its hardware (MAC) address, device name, local IP address, and counts of the traffic it analyzed. When traffic looks suspicious, it also includes the remote internet address, port, and protocol involved, and why it was flagged. It doesn’t send us the contents of your traffic, such as pages, messages, or files, or the names of the websites you visit.
- Router details. Your router’s identifier, the name and location label you give it, and status reports such as its software version.
- Your decisions. When you allow or block a device from an alert, we record that choice and when you made it.
- Messages we send you. A record of each alert email, alert text, and verification code we send: where it went, when, and whether it was delivered.
- Contact form. Your name, email address, and message.
- Technical information. Our servers and hosting provider log details such as IP addresses, browser type, and pages requested, to keep the service secure and working.
We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. When you sign in, your browser stores sign-in tokens so you stay signed in. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when you visit.
How we use it
- To run ZeroAnomaly: detect threats, show your network on the dashboard, send the alerts you’ve turned on, and carry out the allow and block decisions you make.
- To confirm your phone number and prevent abuse of our texting.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems, and improve our detection.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Text messages
If you add a mobile number, we use it only to send your verification codes and the alerts you’ve turned on. Our SMS Terms explain how often we text and how to get help or stop. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text message opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Who we share it with
- Amazon Web Services, which hosts our servers and databases and delivers our sign-in, emails, and texts. AWS handles this information only to provide those services to us.
- Public internet registries. To name the organization behind a remote internet address one of your devices contacted, we sometimes look that address up in public registration databases. The lookup contains only the remote address, nothing about you.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect ZeroAnomaly, our customers, or others from harm.
- A successor, if ZeroAnomaly is merged or acquired. This policy would continue to apply to your information.
We don’t share your information with anyone else.
How long we keep it
- Network information from your router: 30 days.
- Alert links and the allow or block choices made on them: 7 days.
- Records of the emails and texts we send you: 90 days.
- Server logs: 1 year.
- Account information, phone number, and settings: while your account is open. Backups can keep deleted account data for up to 35 more days.
Security
We encrypt your information in transit and at rest. Routers connect to us with their own certificates, the dashboard requires you to sign in, and alert links carry a long random code that expires after 7 days. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- Turn alert emails or texts on or off in Settings, remove your number there, or reply STOP to any text.
- To see, correct, or delete your information, or to close your account, email support@zeroanomaly.com. We’ll respond promptly.
- Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under local law. Contact us to use them.
Children
ZeroAnomaly isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We’ll post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll email account holders before it takes effect.
